GBA Newsletter!

Hello GBA Users,

We are going to try and keep you updated on everything that we are working on. These news letters will be kinda spontaneous, so don't expect them on a regular schedule, however they will explain some of the new ideas that are coming up through the GBA staff and will be put towards the GBA 2.0 So here we go,

*Since we shut down we have opened up for new Judges to help within the Arena. We have a couple that have already been set up with their possitions, but there is still a lot of space available, so if you want to sign up feel free to do so here

*We have started to make progress on refining our judgements and making them more universal. The first step? We will be focusing more on what the two duelists do right, then what duelists had done wrong. Yes this transition will be difficult, but we didn't like the way the last tourney went where it seemed most people advanced because their opponent did less wrong then them. This is a concept that we are trying to get out of the GBA.

*Two new HC's were selected, as Ak-Akari Obachu and Dunta Coral have stepped in to take up the reigns of those before them. Wish them luck, they are going to need it.

*Quote of the session, while Inky and Dunta were trying to teach Ak-Akari how to use the Edit button on the Moderation default. Can you guess which part was changed?

Dunta Coral wrote:You can "edit" the stuff and leave a note at the last one you do.

    And I smell of Elderberries..

*We are now planing on switching up how we rank our users. The current overall rankings will be archived and given a new name. At the same time we will be opening up a special "Challenge Match rankings" which will be a yearly ranking system. Do not worry, every battle you win in the Challenge matches are still reflected in the "Overall rankings" (Working Title), however they are not going to be updated as frequently as the Challenge Match Rankings will be.

To add on to this, we are also thinking of something special where the tourney duels will now count as double points for a win. This will emphasize participation in the tournaments as well as Challenge matches to get people working towards the end goal: Win it all

That is it from us on this end. If you read something here you liked, or something you want clarified please post here and one of the lovely staff members will get to you as soon as possible. Also, other ideas to solve our problems are still allowed, maybe being a judge blinds us from seeing something that you all see.

Re: GBA Newsletter!

I was one of those possible new judges I have only just now read this. With sir Dunta stepping down I just want to check to see if my application made it into the right hands, as I sent it to Dunta I believe.

Re: GBA Newsletter!

Sorry it has been so long GBAers but here it is, update 2!

Currently our lovely GBA HC's are working on a detailed new criteria which all judges must meet before joining our lovely band of hero's.
They will be focusing the most on how Staffers interact with others, as well as their ability to add positive points to their judgements as well as negatives.

Other staff members are focusing on the scenarios, discarding those that are underused and limiting us to a "Top 25ish" that will be utilized in the tournaments to level the playing field.
Those of you that really enjoy the odd scenarios needn't worry. One thing we are considering is that you write your own entry post for all Challenge match scenarios. That way, if you want to do the 5 posts and then animal attack you are free to do it in challenge matches, however we are going to keep the Tournament as a fair level playing field.

Finally we are working on defining the force, and this is where we would like some discussion from you all as the users. We have two camps, the one where the force is like a mana bar. The other is that you can use as much force as possible, but once you reach critical mass it actually hurts you to utilize the force more. Any thoughts?

That is it from the GBA, thank you all for your patcience and keep your comments coming.

Re: GBA Newsletter!

Hello GBAers

We want to appoligize, there really isn't anything to talk about this time around as Finals have hit our HC's and some of our judges pretty hard. Don't forget some health problems, but the good news is everyone should be primed to knock everything out by the weekend. Keep your eyes open and will we drop some more info on you once it is ready.
